10 Ways To Protect Your Sensitive Skin

by Jim DeSantis

If you are fair-haired, you likely are fair-skinned and this usually means you have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin brings with it a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it is attractive. On the other hand, it can cause no end of trouble for you. Here are 10 ways to keep your sensitive skin healthy and beautiful.

An effective sensitive skin care routine is really simple when we follow a few fundamental steps. Most important is to understand the definition of sensitive skin so you can understand if this condition applies to you. Then, we can cover the 10 best ways to protect yourself while taking advantage of the beauty this skin type offers.

The Definition of Sensitive Skin

This skin type makes you vulnerable to all kinds of environmental conditions. Your skin can become irritated when you come into contact with the world around you. This irritation can even be caused by skin care products themselves which is why the cure is sometimes worse than the problem itself.

Many products contain compounds that may be good for people with average skin tone but a definite hazard to those with fair skin. That's why it's so important to take the time to read product labeling to determine if your fair skin will be helped or harmed. Look for statements such as "for sensitive skin" or "not for sensitive skin" or similar statements that tell you what to expect if you use the product.

You may know through your own experience that, in general, most skin types do not respond well to products that contain chemical based formulations. Look for products that contain natural ingredients and that are designed for sensitive skin. Chemically based compounds in products do help some people but, for the person with sensitive skin, the threshold for damage is quite a bit lower than the average person. The damage comes much quicker and more severe for fair-skinned users of these products which is why it's so important to choose only products that are specifically formulated for sensitive skin.

Finally, people with sensitive skin are quite susceptible to acne. Good skin hygiene means keeping your skin pores clean and not clogged with oils or lotions you think are protecting your sensitive skin. Clogged pores are fertile ground for acne-causing bacteria to grow.

Now that you have a definition, here are the 10 things you should do to protect your sensitive skin:

1. Use only sensitive skin care products that have natural ingredients, not chemicals or oils in them that could clog pores and contribute to acne or skin irritation.

2. Do not use skin care products that any kind of chemical-based additives such as perfumes or coloring.

3. Skin toners are not a good thing either. These contain compounds that will actually dry your skin and cause irritation.

4. Be careful of what you touch. No matter what you touch, be it laundry products, things at work, things at home, do not touch your face without first washing your hands with a sensitive skin soap product. Chemicals, grime, and bacteria are enemies to sensitive skin.

5. Another important tip for 'sensitive skin care' is to avoid excessive exposure to sun. Apply sun screen lotion before getting out in the sun.

6. It goes without saying that the Sun is not a good thing for folks with fair skin but I remind you anyway. In spite of negative news stories about the effectiveness of sun screen, use it anyway. At the very least, wear a hat and keep your arms and legs covered when venturing out in bright sunlight.

7. Hypoallergenic moisturizers that are labeled for sensitive skin are your friend. These usually contain only natural ingredients and no harmful additives.

8. Stay away from soap based or alcohol based skin cleansing products. Again, the word is: natural! You want skin cleansers with non- toxic ingredients and that are labeled for sensitive skin application. You will need to cleanse your face daily to clean off the grime and bacteria picked up out in the world.

9. Using a good exfoliation product once a week is recommended. It will help clean your face of dead skin cells so the body can replace them with new cells to keep your fair skin radiant. Be very gentle, though. Sensitive skin does not do well with vigorous scrubbing.

10. Remove makeup as soon as possible. As soon as you get home from work, use a hypoallergenic makeup-remover and get that stuff off your face. The longer you allow makeup to sit there, the greater the chance of clogged pores giving acne the fertile environment it needs.

How Stress Influences Acne

by Lance Carr

Does your acne flair up after an emotional disturbance? When you become stressed at your job, are you more likely to suffer skin outbreaks? For many years dermatologists have argued over the connection connecting stress and acne.

Though it's true that genetics could play a part in your odds of developing acne, lots of dermatologists presently recognize this troubling condition can additionally be connected to additional factors like stress or an inadequate diet.

It is no surprise that stress can assert a harmful impact on your immune structure. Irrespective of what form of malady you suffer from, a good deal of stress can either worsen your condition or lengthen the amount of time it commonly takes your body to heal and get well.

At those times when people suffer stress or emotional turbulence, the body often reacts by producing an overabundant quantity of hormones. Male hormones notably have a great impact on the sebaceous gland. If the gland becomes overactive, the body subsequently manufactures an excess of sebum. Once the pores become blocked with sebum, acne is very likely to crop up.

Besides aggravating existing acne breakouts, stress can also produce an overall deterioration in the appearance of your skin. Apart from influencing sebum production, an unhealthy presence of stress may possibly cause the adrenal glands to produce cortisol. The cortisol then is released into the sebaceous gland and manufactures a greater quantity of oil in the skin.

Even if you are at this time taking a prescription or over the counter remedy for acne, managing your stress level is able to help to improve your general skin condition. The following techniques are useful for easing stress in order to contend with acne. Through following some of these suggestions, not only will your acne most likely improve but you can also attain better overall physical condition and wellness.

Exercise is possibly one of the best known techniques for lowering stress. In literally minutes, you can ease excess tension and concern. Unfortunately numerous people consider exercise as an objectionable task. By means of shifting your negative concepts linked to exercise, you'll be more likely to take part in healthy vigorous activity.

Too much caffeine can frequently give rise to a high degree of stress. By lowering your ingestion of sodas, coffee, tea, and other stimulants, you can quiet down your body and inhibit other common negative side effects such as headaches or high blood pressure.

Scrutinize your diet. Attempt to consume as many healthy and organic foods as possible. A diet containing the appropriate quantity of fruits and vegetables will exert the most affirmative impact on your wellbeing. Lots of people habitually eat extraordinary quantities of sugar and processed foods every day. This can show the way to stress and other behavioral difficulties, specially in younger people and teenagers. By shifting your eating behavior, you can improve your acne and scores of other general maladies.

Strive to get outdoors on a daily basis. Only a minimal amount of time outdoors each day will have a positive affect on your body. Sunlight brings about the fabrication of Vitamin D which provides for healthy skin. A quick walk three or four times a week is all that is needed.

Whether you decide to cure your acne with established or unconventional medicine treatments, by easing stress, you can multiply your chances of gaining healthy skin and a healthy-looking complexion.

Castor Oil: Natural Skin Care and Protection Without Equal

By Laura Thomas

At one time, castor oil was the natural home remedy of choice that young mothers would use for any digestive problem, such as sore tummies to sickness, diarrhea and constipation. Woe betide you if you failed to fill your diaper or nappy. Your reward was a spoonful of castor oil - yugh! It was enough to keep you off the potty!

Thankfully, these days are behind those of us old enough to remember them, and castor oil now has other uses, one of the more unlikely being skin care. It's unlikely it tastes any better when used as a skin care product as it did when used for its medicinal purposes, for but at least we are no longer forced to drink it. In fact, castor oil is a surprisingly effective skin care product, and is used to treat burns, cuts and abrasions, sunburn, acne and any condition caused by excessively oily skin in addition to using it to maintain a hydrated, smooth and healthy-looking skin.
Although the castor oil itself is an oily substance, it can be used to prevent your skin from the effects of the skin oil that causes acne. That is because it can penetrate deep into the skin along with the isostearate succinate it contains, and exert a highly antioxidant effect. Isostearate succinate is used as an ingredient in many commercial skin care preparations such as lipstick and lip balm, and helps to keep the skin smooth and hydrated.

Castor oil skin care products also contain ricinoleic acid, a strong anti-inflammatory that helps to reduce the skin eruptions of acne and eczema. The antioxidant properties of the oil protect your skin from the damage cause by free radicals generated by the action of strong sunlight on your skin, and also of pollutants such as traffic fumes and tobacco smoke. Free radicals can kill off your skin cells accelerating the appearance of aging, and without the strong antioxidant effects of natural skin care products, your skin would age prematurely and turn dry and leathery.

The oil helps your skin to feel silky and smooth because of its humectant properties: it absorbs moisture and passed that into to your skin. The oil itself does not leave your skin feeling sticky as many other oils do because it is easily washed off with soap water. Its moisturizing effect supports the antioxidants castor oil contains to help to prevent wrinkles developing, and also helps to maintain a good circulation of blood that keeps it supplied with the nutrients and the oxygen needed to maintain a healthy supply of new skin growth.

Although many find its effects on their skin surprising, there are very good medical and chemical reasons why castor oil should offer a high degree of skin care through its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It is a more effective natural moisturiser for your skin than the vast majority of synthetic moisturizing preparations on the market today, and is in fact one of the best natural substances that nature can provide to care for your skin.

Castor oil skin care preparations can help to maintain well-hydrated healthy skin, and if used in conjunction with a healthy diet should enable you to maintain your youthful looks for many years to come while others around you are becoming old and wrinkled.

How Can I Cure Underarm Sweating?

By Howard Ordemann

As of now there is no natural cure for excessive underarm sweating. There are many ways you can try to reduce the severity of it though. If none of these methods work for you or help in the least bit, you may want to contact a physician because you might have a more serious condition known as hyperhydrosis. Hyperhydrosis is a very common condition affecting over seven million people in the United States alone. Some forms of treatment include surgery and botox injections. Before you head to the doctor give these methods a try to help cure underarm sweating.

Drink plenty of water. You need to replenish the fluids lost by your excessive sweating. This is probably the most important step to try. The recommended amount is 8 glasses every day, but do not be afraid to consume more then that. You should also try not to drink beverages that are too cold. Your body will actually have to work harder after a really cold beverage because it is always trying to remain a constant temperature.

Watch what you eat. A healthy diet is one of the most important factors in trying to reduce your sweat. Overweight people tend to have many more problems then a person of normal weight. Try to stay away from processed foods and those high in fat. Eating spicy foods may also contribute to your problem.

Avoid excessive amounts of alcohol. Alcohol can cause your blood flow and heart rate to increase, which will in turn make your body temperature rise.

Quit smoking. Smoking can also increase your blood flow and heart rates similar to the way alcohol does. The chemicals found in cigarettes can add to your body's adrenaline levels. This increased rate of adrenaline will also promote sweating.

Try to relax. Relaxation is a huge factor in trying to cure underarm sweating. Simple activities such as exercising or taking a yoga class may reduce your stress level. A lower level of stress will usually mean a lower amount of sweating.

Foundation makeup - How to Choose the Right Color

By Linda Asato

Foundation comes in various forms and most recently as a natural mineral powder. It also comes in various shades of skin color that poses a question for most women. Which color should they choose for their skin color? After all, they don't want to look pasty white, nor do they want to look falsely tanned.

There are several shades of foundation starting with light, moving to medium, medium warm, medium dark, dark, spiced honey, cappuccino and espresso. Different manufacturers have different names for these shades but you get the idea of their range.

So just how does one choose the right color? Here is some data to help you make a wise choice.

Medium is what suits the skin color of most American women so this is a good place to start, especially if you are of Scandinavian, German or English descent with pink undertones.

If you are of Hispanic, Mediterranean or Asian descent, you may have yellow undertones in your skin, and your choice would be more of a Medium Warm color.

If you wonder whether you have pink or yellow undertones, there are a couple things you can check to determine which you have. If your veins show somewhat blue through the skin, or if you tend to burn before tanning, you probably have pink undertones. If your veins appear more greenish, and you go to straight to tanning without burning first, you would have a more yellow undertone.

Light foundation is your choice if your skin is lighter, but you can mix light and medium to get any in-between shades that match better.

The next shade darker is Medium Dark and this can be mixed with Medium for your in-between shades using the medium as a concealer. Dark is the next shade darker, and the same principles apply. From there we go darker to Spiced Honey, Cappuccino and Espresso.

Using powdered mineral foundation is popular these days and preferred over liquid or cake by many ladies. The advantage to using this form of foundation, besides it being composed of natural minerals that feed the skin rather than harm it with added chemicals, is that you can add layers bit at a time and end up with a more natural looking skin rather than cakey.

So now you know where to start as you experiment with the different shades of foundation.

Sun Damaged Skin and The Best Way To Reverse It

by Elizabeth Ruby

People generally underestimate the effect that sun damaged skin has on the way that you look as you get older. The more time that you spend exposed to the ultraviolet radiation of the sun, the more lines and wrinkles that will form on your skin. These lines will typically form earlier than they would have had you not spent time soaking up rays, and are usually deeper.

Another thing that could result from this exposure is what is typically referred to as age spots. These spots on your skin are formed by the same melanin hyperpigmentation that causes your skin to tan in the summertime. Age spots, or sun spots, occur when cells in your skin become so badly damaged that the melanin hyperpigmentation becomes permanent.

The first thing that I want to tell you about treating the lines and wrinkles that result from sun damaged skin is to avoid the use of the typical collagen and elastin formulas on the market. These products will not reduce the lines on your skin, because the two main ingredients cannot be absorbed. They are simply too dense to be able to pass through your skin.

The most effective ingredient for alleviating these lines is a pair of proteins that are known together as Functional Keratin. What Functional Keratin does for your skin is it causes an elevation in the production rate of your collagen and elastin. As the amount of these connective tissues grows, the lines and wrinkles on your skin begin to disappear.

There are plenty of formulas out there that are designed to treat the age spots formed by sun damaged skin also. These skin whitening formulas are ineffective due to the fact that there are chemical bleaching agents in them for removing the hyperpigmentation from your skin. These bleaches will do a lot more harm to your skin than they will good.

These chemicals have a tendency to spread out beyond the borders of the area being treated. When this happens your skin becomes mottled or blotchy in appearance, and your hyper-pigmented areas will still appear clearly. There are far better ingredients that you could be using on your skin than these chemical agents, and these compounds are far more effective in treating your problem.

In order for you to be able to remove the brown spots caused by sun damaged skin, your product needs to contain an ingredient that is known as Extrapone nutgrass root extract. This extract has been in use for thousands of years in India, where this nutgrass grows freely. This compound is the most effective natural melanin inhibitor in the world.

Not only will Extrapone root extract lighten the affected areas and blend them back in with the rest of your skin, but it will also prevent new outbreaks of these spots from forming. This ingredient in combination with a collagen and elastin enhancer such as Functional Keratin, is all that you will ever need in order to give your sun damaged skin its youthful appearance once again.

Stay Wrinkle Free Learn How

by Steven A Johnson

Facial wrinkles are caused by many factors, including loss of skin moisture, repetitive facial movements such as squinting, frowning, smiling, and even sleep positions. Environmental stresses from air pollution, ozone, not enough sleep, and cigarette smoke also play a negative role.

The biggest cause in premature aging is most often associated with photo damage, the damage caused by chronic exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. In the deficiency of antioxidant protection, the skin is left defenseless against oxidative damage. As we age, our skin begins to lose its natural beautiful glow and shine. Rather than remaining tight, smooth, and youthful, it starts to sag, wrinkle, and become prune-like, in that way making us look much older than we actually are and feel.

Something used to help us from looking older then we are, and helping with wrinkles is Argireline. Argireline is a thing which makes up protein which, according to studies, has shown to decrease and get rid of wrinkles on the face. Facial wrinkling is actually a normal part of aging, so we really can't avoid it. Argireline has been shown to put a stop to the structure of wrinkles. Actually this pertaining to compounds formed through a chemical process is being used in cosmetic products today and the recommended dosage is 5% or more the content is dependent on how fast you want your wrinkles to reduce and decrease.

Everyone has probably heard a little something about green tea and how it benefits our health. Green Tea is a great antioxidant which is used normally as something to drink, but it's also found in a lot of products such as anti aging creams. Right now green tea has been one of the most popular choices for anti aging. Green tea has nutrients that help decrease and perhaps remove fine lines and wrinkles, not to mention it revitalizes the skin and makes it appear much younger. The advantage is that it is an antioxidant so you can count on getting rid of any toxins that have damaged your skin and decrease that damage, along with any future damage, that comes with the free radicals.

There's also a lot of talk about collagen and there are many reasons for this. Collagen is important because it helps our skin stay young and look its best. You can find collagen fibers in the skin and retinol, also known as Vitamin A, can help build these fibers. It's been proven to decrease wrinkles and fine lines, as well as decrease pores and encourage the fading of Dark Age spots.

As the years take their toll, we all become more obsessed to learn everything we can about anti-aging skin care and facial skin rejuvenation. The latest anti-aging cream called Revexin is created as a multi-faceted tool for restoring your skin's youthful appearance. We combined the wrinkle-relaxing power of Argireline and the unmatched hydrating properties of Hyaluronic Acid along with a patented collagen amplifier to redefine and revitalize the skin.

Healthy Hair Vitamins

By: Tania Jain

There a number of different specific hair vitamins and minerals that can play a major role in helping a person have a healthy head of hair. If a person does not have sufficient hair vitamins then the deficiencies can lead to thinning hair or even total baldness in the most severe cases. The fact is that the state of a person's hair reflects the overall condition of their body. Extra hair vitamins are likely to be needed if a person is generally unwell or is undernourished as their hair will show damage too and may even stop growing.

Some of the most important hair vitamins that a person needs to have healthy hair include B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid. The best way to ensure that a person receives enough of these essential hair vitamins are for them to be taken as vitamin supplements. It is not just hair vitamins that are necessary for healthy hair though as there are a number of minerals that are essential, including magnesium, sulphur, silica and zinc.

The most essential hair vitamin is vitamin a but the best form of this is to include in the diet is beta-carotene. This is because the hair vitamin A can be toxic if consumed in large quantities but beta-carotene has no such problems and is converted by the body into vitamin A that can be used to promote healthy hair. Of course, vitamin A is not just a hair vitamin, it is also needed for a number of other functions including normal growth of bones, skin, nails and the protective sheath surrounding nerve fibres.

Protein is another essential hair vitamin. This is because hair itself is essentially protein. The amount of this hair vitamin that a person consumes in their diet can affect the hair directly. If a lot of protein is included in a person's diet then this hair vitamin will lead to improved hair growth and a far fuller head of hair. However, a person who has a diet that is lacking in this hair vitamin will suffer from thinning hair and slow hair growth.

Of course, it is not just hair vitamins and minerals that are needed to ensure that a person has healthy, strong hair. There are a number of researchers who have found that there are direct links between the overall health of a person and the condition of their hair. If a person is under a lot of stress or suffers from a lack of sleep then their hair is also likely to suffer and it is likely that their diet will not provide enough hair vitamins to counter these effects. Hair vitamin and mineral supplements can be the solution to weak and damaged hair.

Beauty Sleep

Adequate sleep is essential, not an opulence. A full night's sleep is just as important to maintain health as is a balance diet and right physical exercise.

The Importance of Sleep

Sleep is a revitalizing procedure. Although we are slumbering, our brain is going through the 3 levels of sleep: light, sound and rapid eye movement sleep and it mends, regenerates and energizes the trunk and brain. Our immune systems are reloaded, cells develop and repair themselves, and our trunks preserve energy.

Dangers of Sleep Deprivation

Unluckily, a lot of nap isn't good. What we may not realize is that deficiency of sleep costs on our psychological and bodily well-being. Researches executed by the National Sleep Foundation reveal that even smallest sleep deprivation has a deeply damaging affect on temper, noesis, functioning, productiveness, communication skills, accident chances and overall wellness. For best performance throughout the day, the average grownup requires between 7 to 9 hours sleep at night.

Do Not sleep?

For a few, deficiency of sleep isn't an option, but a problem. Billions of people suffer from insomnia. If you are among those who suffer from insomnia, here are a couple of tips to help you get sleep:

• Do a little pray before you go to bed. The Holy Scripture says to us "Throw off your load upon the Almighty. Do not go to sleep with a heavy burden. Hand over it to God. Think of joyfulness comes with the dawn."

• Do not take caffeinated food and drinks and chocolate 2-3 hours before bedtime.

• Do some physical exercise on a regular basis, but end your workout leastways two hours before bedtime. Keep yourself peaceful.

• Be sure your mattress is the good one for you. Flip-flop your mattress after sometime.

• Sitting in a warm tub for one hour before bedtime will calm and soothe your body and generally make you feel asleep.

• Take a glass of warm milk.

• Listen soft music.

• Go to sleep and wake up at the same time daily. When your sleep has rhythm you will be more satisfied.

Be a Sleeping Beauty

• Do pay some attention to yourself before going to bed.

• Always wash and clean your face thoroughly with a good quality cleanser before bed. Going to sleep without removing your make up not only results in mascara-stained sheets but the dirt caught during the daytime can clog pores and can cause acne.

• Brush your teeth and do not eat or drink anything after it.

• Grease your feet, elbow joint, and knees and pat a little on your lips as well.

• Wear your best nightgowns to bed. Don't keep them for an exceptional occasion. You are an extraordinary occasion.

• Have a sound sleep!

Oily Skin Care

To start the discussion on oily skin care, it's imperative to first understand the cause behind oily skin. Put simply, oily skin is a result of excessive production of sebum (an oily substance that is naturally produced by skin). As is known to everyone, excess of everything is bad; so excessive sebum is bad too. It leads to clogging of skin pores, resulting in accumulation of dead cells and hence formation of pimples/acne. Moreover, oily skin spoils your looks too. So, 'oily skin care' is as important as the 'skin care' for other types of skin.

The basic aim of 'oily skin care' is the removal of excessive sebum or oil from the skin. However, oily skin care procedures should not lead to complete removal of oil. 'Oily skin care' starts with the use of a cleanser. However, not all cleansers will work. You need a cleanser which contains salicylic acid i.e. a beta-hydroxy acid that retards the rate of sebum production. Cleansing should be done twice a day (and even more in hot and humid conditions).

Most of the oily skin care products are oil-free; however, it is always good to check the ingredients of the product, before you actually buy it. This is especially important if a product is marked as 'suitable for all skin types', instead of 'oily skin care product'. 'Oily skin care' is also dependent on the degree of oiliness, if you aren't too oily, so some of these 'suitable for all'- type of products might be work for you too. For extremely oily skin, only oily skin care products are suitable. Your oily skin care routine can include an alcohol based toner (for an extremely oily skin). This can be the second step in your oily skin care routine i.e. just after cleansing. However, excessive toning can harm your skin.

The next step in your oily skin care routine can be a mild moisturiser. Again, the degree of oiliness of your skin will determine whether you need to include this in your oily skin care routine. If you do decide to include a moisturiser, be sure to use one that is oil-free, wax-free and lipid-free. You could also use a clay mask (say once a week) as an oily skin care measure.

As far as the oily skin care products go, you might need to try out a few before you arrive at the one that is really suitable for your skin.

In case these measures don't give you the desired result, consult a good dermatologist for advice. He could prescribe stronger oily skin care products like vitamin A creams, retinoids, sulphur creams etc, which can help counter the problems of oily skin.

With spring comes the time to enjoy. Every girl in the city starts her preparations for prom. It is perhaps the most memorable night of a high school student. The night before your graduation deserves to be special. It requires much time and effort to have everything in place for the prom. It is always handy to know a few makeup tips that should be considered while you get ready for your prom. Prom makeup must reflect your style, your character. You have to look very good and have a nice look. Moreover, a prom makeup has to be strong to resist. A prom makeup has to beautify and make your skin shiny. It is recommended to try the best look that you can have. You have to feel good wearing it, but the most important thing is to have a great look. For a glamorous look, beside the hairstyle, you also need some accessories.

Prom Makeup Tips:

Tip 1

Remember that the most beautiful celebrity on the red carpet and the most beautiful girl at the prom is not the one wearing the most makeup! You don''t want people to say, "Wow, great makeup." You want them to say "Wow, you look amazing!" Your makeup is there to bring out your natural beauty. One of the best ways to look naturally beautiful is to choose a lightweight liquid foundation or a mineral makeup that is almost a perfect match to your skin.

Tip 2

Take a hint from your dress. If your dress is a bold color or black, you''ll want bold makeup to go with it. Your dress will overwhelm you and you''ll look washed out in those prom pictures if your makeup doesn''t complement the strong style of the dress. Dramatic eye makeup is great with a bold dress. Try a strong smoky or cat-eye look. You can find video instructions on how to achieve these looks at seventeen.com. Just remember, when you play up your eyes you want to keep your lips neutral. You want to look like a glamor girl, not a clown, in those photos! Chose a matte lipstick color close to your natural lip color or slightly beige or pink. Dresses in pastel shades call for a more subdued face. Keep the eyes neutral with some sparkly beige or brown shadow and a few coats of a lengthening mascara. Play up your lips instead with a high-shine lip gloss in a bright cherry or pink shade that complements the color of your dress.

Tip 3

Create a glowing complexion, regardless of whether you''re emphasizing the lips or eyes. If you have a medium or dark skin tone, use a bronzer that is two shades darker than your natural skin color. Brush it lightly on the forehead, bridge of the nose and the cheeks. Fair skinned girls can get the same super glow with a highlighter that is one shade darker than their natural skin tone. Use a highlighter along the tops of the cheeks, around the eyes and even around the lips. With either a bronzer or a highlighter, the key is to create a natural looking glow. Start with just a little product and add more if you need it.

Tip 4

Get a manicure the day before the prom. Choose a medium length for your nails. You want something more glamorous than short nails, but super long nails can be difficult to deal with. Once again, you may want to consider your dress when choosing the color and style of your manicure. Of course, a French manicure is always in style.

Tip 5

Do something special with your hair. Prom is a chance to really show your style with a celebrity-inspired hairdo. Try an updo for long hair or add curls to normally straight short hair. Pick up a copy of a celebrity hairstyle magazine or visit seventeen.com for ideas.

Dry Winter Skin: How to Deal With It

By: Katrina Price

Your skin in winter can become very dry - even to the point of being painful. I myself began feeling the effects of the cooler weather in early October. It usually doesn't hit me this hard but this year I'm having a real difficult time with it. My lips became tender and chapped, and I had to switch to a different formula of daily facial cleanser because the exfoliating beads in my current cleanser were irritating my skin. My face became red and flushed. I'll have to limit my daily exfoliation to just twice a week. Also my hands and feet became very dry.

Ah, winter. It can be so peaceful yet so unforgiving. Indoors you're subjected to dry heat and outdoors you're bombarded with harsh winter UV rays from the sun and chilling winds. Yes, the sun's rays are still just as dangerous as they are in the summer and they will reflect off any snowy surfaces, bouncing the rays right back on to you. You're going to need a good facial moisturizer with SPF in it.

Here are some more tips to help you combat dry winter skin:
1)Use a lip balm (preferably with SPF) and do not lick your lips under any circumstances. That just makes it worse.
2)Keep your hands moisturized with a good quality hand cream. Make sure you have a tube of hand cream with you at all times.
3)Drink plenty of water and limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol is a dehydrator.
4)Buy a humidifier if you don't already have one. It may help keep your heating bills down as well. You know, the whole heat and humidity thing. Think Amazon rainforest.
5)Use a shower filter. It will filter out the skin-drying chlorine in your tap water. Avoid using hot water in the shower even though it feels so good on a cold winter morning. It will only strip your skin of its natural oils and cause water to evaporate more quickly. Use warm water onyl. Also, it pays to switch from soap which can dry the skin, to a silky body wash which will help your skin retain moisture. Pat your skin dry when exiting the shower, don't rub. Apply a nice moisturizer while your skin is still damp to help seal in moisture.

When the humidity drops to 50 percent or less, you will need to pay even more attention to your moisturization routine. Stay away from harsh scrubs or cleansers since they will eliminate most of the skin's oils and dry your skin out more easily. This applies to skin care products as well as cleaning products.

My favorite winter skin care tip is before you go to bed, apply a thick, rich moisturizer to your feet, concentrating on the heel area. Then put on a nice cushy pair of socks. When you wake up your feet will be soft and smooth and well-hydrated.

Not paying attention to extremely dry skin can lead to health issues and act as a welcome mat for rashes and skin infections. So take good care of your skin and enjoy your winter!

How to Get Rid of Dark Circles, Puffy and Baggy Eyes

Do you have dark circles under your eyes? Puffy, baggy eyes? Hopefully you don't have all three. But the way to get rid of either puffy or baggy eyes and even dark circles is pretty much the same. I'm going to show you 3 ways that work. Do all 3 ways and you will have a new, younger look.

1. Are You Getting Enough Sleep?

Of the three ways I am going to talk about, this may be the most difficult. Busy schedules and work demands often equal a shortage of sleep.
Suggestion: Get 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Go to bed at the same time each night. Even if you don't go to sleep right away, get accustomed to the time. It works. Also get up every morning at the same time. Lack of sleep will produce baggy eyes with smudge type spots. UGHH! Get some rest!

2. Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Probably not, most of us don't. Fluid build up will cause baggy eyes. Drinking more water will help flush out the extra fluid under your eyes. Just make sure the water is purified water. Why purified? Because dark circles underneath your eyes are caused by toxins, much of which comes from tap water. Don't drink it. Filter your water. A good source of excellent filters is CleanWaterPure.com.

Puffy eyes and dark circles seem to come when we get a little older. This is because of damage over the years to the capillaries under our eyes. The skin, just below our eyes is a little thinner than on the face. So the capillaries don't move the fluids as well as in other parts of our body. But the good news is that that damage can be fixed. Here's how.

3. Eye Gel That Really Works

Not all eye gels or creams are equal. Some don't work at all. Some are even harmful. Let me show you what works and why.

Peptides, protein fragments, help make new fibers and skin cells. This will increase the thickness of the skin under the eyes. A good eye gel that really works will have antioxidants that are plant based. This will help those capillaries have better health because circulation will get better. This reduces dark circles.

The eye gels or creams that have plant antioxidants showed by one research study to have a 65% reduction in baggy eyes. 62% had reduced crow's feet and wrinkles under the eyes. 60% showed that dark circles were gone. Wouldn't you like to know which company has such a miracle skin product? See author box. Keep reading please.

What Should You Be Doing?

As we mentioned, if your health is generally good, you get the proper amount of sleep, drink properly filtered water, and use a quality eye gel you can get rid of puffy eyes in about two months. Clinical research has such evidence. But one more thing that you must be sure to not do.

Avoid Bad Ingredients

Stay away from expensive department store products. Many of them contain harmful ingredients such as parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, synthetic additives and fragrances. If the product lists fragrance, don't buy it. Also stay away from products that stretch your skin.

In conclusion, Get some sleep, Drink purified water and Use an eye gel that is natural and safe. I'm glad I found the one I did. Good bye puffy eyes and dark circles. - Margaret Bell

You Can Look 5 Years Younger In Just 5 Minutes A Day

by Charlotte

If your skin looks dull, it could be because you're not treating it well. Your skin has a job to do, and that is to protect us. You should be returning the favor by protecting your skin. Each and every day, do something special to show your skin that you appreciate the work it does for you. We're not saying you have to spend hours in front of a mirror, pampering your skin with all kinds of expensive potions or gadgets that make outrageous claims of turning the clock back 20 years or more.

By doing 5 basic steps each and every day, your skin will begin to recover its luster and even its youthful glow. Let's see what these 5 steps are.

1. Cleanse the right way.

Cleanse your face in the morning and again in the evening without fail. Use a cleanser that is suited to your skin. A ph-balanced cleanser that is creamy is good for dry skin, while most gels are suited for oily skin. You don't have to create suds to get your skin clean. There are many very good cleansers on the market that do not foam. However, if you like suds go ahead and use a sudsy cleanser, just as long as it suits your skin type. Always cleanse your face with a gentle motion, washing at least 30 seconds. Rinse well with fresh water. You'll want to cleanse twice if you have make-up or a heavy sunscreen on your face.

2. A good toner is important.

Your toner should have ingredients that help build your skin's protective barrier. This barrier creates an antioxidant shield between your skin and those nasty free radicals. Choose a toner with vitamin C and white tea to both calm your skin and give it a youthful lift. For extra hydration, choose a toner with hyaluronic acid. This little wonder holds 1,000 times its weight in water. Your toner should also be ph-balanced. If your cleanser is not ph-balanced, this will help you return your skin to its healthy best after cleansing.

3. Exfoliate routinely.

A gentle, non-abrasive exfoliation is necessary to clear dead skin cells from your skin's surface. Exfoliating helps the skin renewal process and reveals a brighter, clearer complexion. Exfoliating also allows moisturizers to penetrate deeper into your skin. Exfoliation is good, but more is not always better. Be careful not to over-exfoliate or scrub your skin harshly. If you have oily skin, over-exfoliating will cause the oil glands to over-produce oil to compensate for the oil that you have stripped away. Obviously this can cause more clogging and more shine on an already oily face. So, exfoliate often, but gently, and your skin will love you for it.

4. Moisturize properly.

Every skin needs a good moisturizer, whether your skin is dry or oily. That's because every skin needs extra nourishment, the kind of nourishment that comes in your moisturizer. Look for a moisturizer that offers ingredients like vitamins A, C, and E, as well as yeast to help heal and nourish the skin. Choose the moisturizer that best suits your skin type, with special ingredients to combat the effects of pollutants and other damaging elements.

5. Apply sunscreen daily.

Your healthy skin depends on the daily use of sunscreen. The sun causes about 99% of all the signs of aging you can see on your skin. Your face is quite susceptible to sun damage since it's exposed to the sun on a regular basis; walking in and out of buildings or even driving your car puts your skin at risk. If your morning moisturizer does not contain sunscreen, be sure you find a good product to apply on top of your moisturizer. If you plan to be outdoors for an extended period of time, move your SPF up a few notches for optimum protection. The FDA-approved ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are the preferred choices.

What else can you do to look and feel years younger?

There's just a few more things you should be doing to look and feel better. Combine the daily skincare regimen listed in this article with healthy eating habits, plenty of water and exercise, and you'll have a great start. Add monthly professional treatments with a Skin Care Specialist to ensure a ravishing, youthful complexion.

How to Tone Up Your Cellulite Areas

By: Joey Atlas

You buy them and they don't get the job done. Anti cellulite pills, lotions, gadgets, rubber tights and other silly money wasters that sell you hope and nothing else. The truth is, your best weapons in your battle against unwelcome cellulite are a smart nutritional routine and a consistent, properly structured workout program.

I'll assume you have a pretty good handle on the nutritional component.

As for the properly structured workout program, which you may indeed have, I've put together a butt, hip and thigh routine which you can incorporate into your current workouts. This routine specifically targets the areas where the appearance of cellulite tends to show up.

Keep in mind, I've been training people since the late eighties. Speaking strictly from experience, I can tell you that the following routine is responsible for helping many women dramatically change the appearance of their cellulite areas.

Lying on your side, do 10 reps of each exercise:

1) Bring both knees forward so your hips are at a 90 degree angle. Then straighten your top leg out in front of you, still keeping 90 degrees at the hip. Lift the top leg slowly about three feet off the ground & down.

2) Straighten both legs so your body is in a straight line. Tilt the hips forward slightly. Lift the top leg about three feet off the ground & down.

3) Put your top leg out in front of you, on the ground. Move your bottom leg forward slightly. Lift the bottom leg about 8 - 12 inches off the ground & down.

4) Repeat all 3 on the other side.

On the elbows and knees, do 10 reps of each exercise:
1) Extend one leg straight back with your toe on the ground. Lift that leg up toward the ceiling & down. Then switch legs.

2) Lift your knee off the floor. Extend that same heel back and up so your leg is pointing toward the ceiling & then bring the knee back into you. Then switch legs.

Standing up, do 10 reps of each exercise:

1) Start with your feet together. Step out in front in to a lunge position. Touch the ground with opposite hand. Come back up & step back to the starting position. Then switch legs.

2) Put one foot up on a step (12 - 18 inches high). Slowly step up and down with the other foot. Then switch legs.

If this routine is easy try going through it twice. If you still need more of a challenge, increase the reps to 15 or 20 per set.
